28 Stock Photo Websites Helpful for Bloggers (Most of Them Free Images!)

nlNederlands (Dutch)

Did you ever use a stock photo on your blog? Don’t know what these are? Keep reading, as I’ll show you the best websites where you can find free stock images to use on your website.

As a blogger, you probably try to use one of your own photos in your articles as much as you can, and that’s often the best way to go to keep your site personal. But sometimes you just can’t find the right image. I know I sometimes have that! Either I forgot to to take a specific picture in the location I am writing about, or I’m writing about a subject that is a bit more abstract and I just don’t have a great image that goes along with it.

Thank the internet for Stock Photos. These are photos created by photographers all over the world, that you can use on your blog or in your social media marketing. Sometimes you pay for them, sometimes you have to give credit in a certain way. But most of the time they can really help you out with an image, or even illustration, audio file or video that you were just looking for.

I also use stock photography to design my Pinterest Pins and quotes and other images with text on them, like my new years resolution post (see all the way down at the bottom).

Where to find Free Images for Websites

Over the years, I’ve perfected the art of finding free stock images that I can use for my blog, because starting a business is expensive enough, right? And usually I find the paid stock photos too polished somehow and rather work with material from more amateur photographers (that doesn’t mean lesser quality) as they just blend into my site better.

I’ve been collecting stock images ever since I can remember (I even dreamed of becoming a stock photographer once, haha) and I’ve got quite the database already with image material I can now use in my blogs.

TIP: Use Adobe Lightroom to organise all your stock photos. You can add keywords, which make it really easy to go through them and find the right one. Most stock photos that you download will have these keywords automatically attached, even better!

Even when a website say that they host Royalty Free Images, always make sure to check out this site to read all about the right attributes (credit) and what they mean exactly: creativecommons.org/licenses
