The idea behind Honest Burger is as simple as their menu: a concise burger menu inspired by British products and always served with homemade rosemary fries.
You choose a chicken, beef or veggie burger (some burgers have some variations) and perhaps a side like chicken wings, onion rings, coleslaw, green salad and some sauces. Sometimes they’ve got special burgers, depending on the location and month of the year.
HONEST BURGER LONDON (GREENWICH BRANCH)
The Honest Burger Story
Honest Burger founders Tom Barton, Phil Eles and Dorian Waite had been working together in restaurants for a few years and were getting pretty disillusioned with it.ย They talked about setting something up and pooled their money together and bought a marquee, grill and a fryer and started serving burgers at events and in their first restaurant in Brixton Village.
Their second restaurant in Soho opened around the Olympics and afrer, they couldn’t keep up with demand and weren’t ready to serve the queues around the block.
THE TRAVEL TESTER IN ACTION
1. What does it SOUND like?
The guys of Honest Burgers had a single goal when setting up the brand: do fresh, high-quality British burgers and do them well.ย They are passionate about supporting young people and developing their workforce to reach their full potential. That does sound good, right?
2. What does it LOOK like?
Honest Burger can be found all over London, but on our last visit to Greenwich, we popped into this one. The front of the building is so narrow, you’d almost miss it!ย On the inside, however, the restaurant is actually quite big and the atmosphere is really nice!

3. What does it TASTE like?
All burgers get served medium (pink) as a standard, which we didn’t really like. Of course, you can ask to have them well-done if you like that better. They’ve got gluten free buns as well in case you prefer that.
The brunch menu offers mushroom/avocado on toast, granola, burgers (of course) or bacon & egg combinations.
As far as drinks are concerned, you can choose soda, hot drinks, wine, beer and cider, or one of the homemade cocktails of 6 pounds. I went for the home made iced tea and loved it!

4. What does it FEEL like?
The staff at the restaurant was super relaxed and when we visited around lunch time, the restaurant wasn’t busy at all, which was a nice surprise.

5. What does it SMELL like?
Too bad they haven’t invented smells via the internet yet, so you’ll have to believe me when I say the burger smelled as good as it looks on this picture below.
The kitchen itself was downstairs, so not much smell came from that, but the coffee and other hot drinks were made in the seating area, so we’d definitely got a nice smell from there!

After our 5-senses test, we’re ready to answer our final (and perhaps most important) question in our Honest Burger Restaurant Review:
6. Does this restaurant make us happy?
At Honest Burgers, we got a meal with crispy fat fries, super soft bun and fresh veggies. The burger was very tasty and I have to say that I didn’t think it was greasy like most burger restaurants. Good quality products and a company with a great mission. So all that’s rest to say: APPROVED!
