In March 1972, MOS Burger founder Satoshi Sakurada started the first test hamburger restaurant in Narimasu, Tokyo. The company grew and grew and now they have more than 1700 restaurants in Japan and the rest of Asia, The Pacific and Oceania.
MOS stands for “Mountain Ocean Sun”, an expression of the founder’s love for humans and the environment and a desire to establish a group consisting of people committed to that ideal. MOS Burger aims to “make people happy through delicious food” and they have a policy to never leave food sitting out, but prepare everything to order.
Japanese-Style Hamburgers at MOS Burger Tokyo, Japan
You can find MOS Burger literally everywhere in Tokyo, last time I was in Tokyo we visited the branch in Sendagi, close to the Ueno & Yanaka Neighbourhood.
When you get inside, don’t freak out if they give you a Japanese menu, usually you can flip it over for the English one, or just ask for it :) Ordering works the same as in any hamburger restaurant: pick what you want, order, pay, get the food and sit down, easy!
I’ll have… eh… *sweat breaks out*
In case of emergency… order Melon Soda! Yummm
MOS Burger incorporates Japan’s food culture in their dishes, including the Teriyaki Burger, made with miso paste and soy sauce and the MOS Rice Burger, which features a rice bun. They only work with fresh vegetables which are grown by contracted domestic farmers using methods that do not rely on pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
You can buy a single burger, or a set meal with a Small or Large side dish (fries, onion rings or salad) and a Small, Medium or Large drink (Iced Coffee, Iced Tea, Orange Juice, Pepsi, Ginger Ale, Melon Soda or a hot drink… or even soup!)
You can order burgers with soy patty, beef, beef & pork, pork, chicken seafood, a hot dog or a rice burger!
Rice Burger, liked it!
Melon Soda & Iced Tea
If you’re every hungry in Japan and don’t feel like putting a lot of energy in trying to understand a menu and order in a restaurant, then MOS Burger is a great pit stop for you. It’s fast to order and at unlike some fast food chains, at MOS the food is actually really quite good too!
