Finding things to give or ask for the holiday season or other events can be hard sometimes, especially if you’re like me and trying to be a bit more conscious about the things you buy. That’s why I’ve compiled this list of things that I believe every traveller will love, that are available on Amazon (oh man, I LOVE Amazon), are good for the planet and are super useful to have!

All of the items are either already bought and tested by me, or they’ve just been added to my own wish list, because I just found them browsing for inspiration for this post. If you have any suggestions on what to add, of course I’d love to hear it.

All of the items listed are available to buy online and most of them have an affiliate link on them. This means that -to no extra cost to you- I will earn a small commission. Thank you in advance for your support and to help keep the content on this website free for you to read!

GIFT GUIDE: ECO FRIENDLY IDEAS FOR TRAVEL

1. Bee’s Wrap Variety Pack

10 Eco-Friendly Travel Items That Shouldn't Be Missing From Your Wish List || The Travel Tester

One of the items that I bought this year that I am SO happy with, are these eco-friendly reusable food wraps from a company called ‘Bee’s Wrap’. Basically, these are little pieces of organic cotton covered in sustainably harvested beeswax, organic jojoba oil, and tree resin. This makes them the perfect sustainable alternative to plastic wrap.

This variety pack has 4 different sizes and they are perfect for home & travel. You can just wrap a piece of fruit, cheese or bread in them, or cover a bowl or plate. You then use the warmth of your hands to soften the wrap and form over the item, super easy! You can just wash them with water with mild soap and air dry. I already can’t live without them!

We use the purple (medium) to cover small bowls and the little bee ones (small) for pieces of cheese, so this is what we use most, but the large bee one is also perfect for loaves of bread and the medium-large blue striped ones are used when we run out of purple ones to cover bowls and wrap things like pita breads/wraps and leftover pizza in. It all works great!

2. Evriholder Avocado Holder (2 Pack)

10 Eco-Friendly Travel Items That Shouldn't Be Missing From Your Wish List || The Travel Tester

Anyone that’s ever had breakfast or lunch at our place has asked us how we got our cool ‘Avo Savers’! The truth is, we got them in a supermarket in Sydney when we lived there and pretend you can only get it from there, but actually, you can just order them on Amazon.

We use these all the time, as we go through a LOT of avocado’s at home and you can simply pop one half (preferably with the stone still in them) onto the holder and you’re done! I can see these being super handy when you travel as well, as the fruit stays nice and firm and won’t crush in a fridge.

3. pataBee Reusable Wooden Utensil Set

10 Eco-Friendly Travel Items That Shouldn't Be Missing From Your Wish List || The Travel Tester

This set I just found on Amazon and haven’t got myself, but I simply LOVE it! This is so perfect for travelling, or even on a picnic in your backyard, because there is no plastic cutlery waste and you can use them over and over again. Plus they look great, right?

With a bamboo table spoon, tea spoon, fork, knife, a pair of chopsticks and 3 bamboo straws, you pretty much have everything you need for a great meal. And bonus: the set comes in a cute cotton bag as well. If that’s not enough, on purchase, you also get the eBook “Sustainable Living” with your utensil set, which is chock full of simple tips and tricks to add more sustainability into your daily life. WANT.

4. Our Earth Beauty Reusable Makeup Remover Pads and Microfiber Face Cleansing Gloves

10 Eco-Friendly Travel Items That Shouldn't Be Missing From Your Wish List || The Travel Tester

I have been looking for a while to buy some reusable makeup remover pads, and I just spotted these on another blog and -again- LOVE them! I had found another set with coloured pads, but I actually like how these look all natural. I just wonder what they look like after a bit of use, but I guess I have to order them to find out (and I will for sure).

This 13-piece bundle includes 10 pieces of 100% organic bamboo velvet makeup remover pads (8 cm / 3.15’’), 2 pieces of 100% microfiber facial cleansing gloves to exfoliate your skin (10 cm 4’’) and 1 reusable laundry bag.

In the description of the product, they say that this pack replaces 10.000 disposable cotton rounds and that even the packaging is plastic-free and can be recycled. Nice.

5. Humangear Gotoob Travel Bottle (3 Pack)

10 Eco-Friendly Travel Items That Shouldn't Be Missing From Your Wish List || The Travel Tester

I am a BIG fan of using mini refillable bottles for travelling, instead of buying minis of things like shampoo, and the GoToob have been around for ages and have been recommended by a lot of travellers. I still haven’t bought them myself, but I’ve not been very happy with some of the refillable bottles I’ve bought so far, mostly because the plastic used on them wasn’t flexible and it’s quite hard to get the product out to the last drop.

The GoToob bottles are squeezable (made with FDA silicone) and come in different sizes, so I would love to try them out myself! Also, these bottles have different colours, so you don’t get mixed up, they are designed with an integrated no-drip valve and are carry-on approved, which of course is perfect for travel. Adding it to my list!

6. Progressive Prepworks Thinstore Collapsible Bowls with Lids (3 Pack)

10 Eco-Friendly Travel Items That Shouldn't Be Missing From Your Wish List || The Travel Tester

I am from the generation that grew up with Tupperware and to this day, I still have so many products from them! One of the items I often used on my travels were these collapsible bowls, where you basically saved a lot of space when you didn’t need them expanded. I even brought them on my first ever backpacking trip and loved using them.

On Amazon, I couldn’t find the Tupperware ones, so for your convenience, I found a similar set that you can order with just a few clicks. You get a pack of 3 different sizes (1.5 cup / 350 ml, 3 cup / 700 ml and 5 cup / 1,2 liter) and they have leak resistant clear lids. They are also said to be dishwasher safe, so super practical!

7. LifeStraw Water Bottle with Integrated Filter Straw

10 Eco-Friendly Travel Items That Shouldn't Be Missing From Your Wish List || The Travel Tester

We have so many water bottles at home at the moment, it’s a bit silly, but when I was travelling Sri Lanka, Christine from the travel blog ‘Don’t Forget to Move’ showed me her LifeStraw bottle, of which she is an ambassador. I was sold immediately! This bottle is amazing you guys, basically what it does is filter water instantly through a 2-stage integrated filter straw. This makes it THE bottle for hikers and backpackers!

Christine told me that the filter removes bacteria and protozoa from lakes and streams and therefor ensures safe, clean drinking water pretty much everywhere you go (ok, we decided it might not be wise to drink out of a barrel full of chemicals, but pretty much everywhere else, use your common sense!). It apparently removes 99.9999% of waterborne bacteria and 99.9% of waterborne protozoan parasites without chemicals, iodine or batteries.  You just have to replace the filters every now and then (but she said they last a LONG time), and you’re good to go. Again, I’m repeating myself, but: WANT WANT WANT!

8. The Green Root Natural Bamboo Toothbrush For Adults

10 Eco-Friendly Travel Items That Shouldn't Be Missing From Your Wish List || The Travel Tester

This year, I bought another item that made me really happy, and that was a set of 5 bamboo toothbrushes! I bought the ones from “The Green Root”, and chose the ones with the white brush heads, rather than the black ones. They are really soft to brush with (not too soft though) and best of all: they are 100% COMPOSTABLE, so they will in the end leave no trace. I ended up using one of the (ok, plastic) toothbrush-covers I already had a home, to cover the brushes when I’m travelling, and that works perfect!

9. Diva Menstrual Cup

10 Eco-Friendly Travel Items That Shouldn't Be Missing From Your Wish List || The Travel Tester

Ok you guys, this might be more of ‘buy for yourself’ kind of gift than something I’d recommend getting for someone else, but I’ve the person is really into eco-friendly travel (and -small detail- female), then this menstrual cup seems to be a must. It’s something I haven’t tried myself, but many of my travel blogging friends are raving about this product, so perhaps I should give it a go! Will you?

10. Home & Harvest Reusable Stainless Steel Straws (8 Pack)

10 Eco-Friendly Travel Items That Shouldn't Be Missing From Your Wish List || The Travel Tester

Another item that I bought this year from Amazon and am loving so much are these stainless steel straws I got from Home & Harvest. We all know by now that straws are pretty terrible, but if you can’t do without in your drink, this is a great alternative. This kit is also so very pretty, as it comes with 4 wide silver-coloured straws (perfect for smoothies), 4 rose gold-coloured straws, 2 cleaning brushes and 2 drawstring bags to carry them with you.

The straws are all made from high grade, food safe & FDA approved stainless steel, that is free from BPA, phthalates and other nasty toxins. It will not rust or corrode and there is no metallic aftertaste. I think they are great!

11. Ethique Eco-Friendly, Body Sampler (5 Pack)

10 Eco-Friendly Travel Items That Shouldn't Be Missing From Your Wish List || The Travel Tester

I’ve always travelled with LUSH solid shampoo and conditioner bars in the past, but it’s a shame they don’t seem to sell them on Amazon! I found this brand instead, called “Ethique”, that do a whole range of solid beauty bars that are full of natural ingredients. Besides this sampler with body wash, they also have products for your hair and face. And besides eco-friendly, they look amazing, don’t they!

Not going to lie, I do think they are pretty expensive, but by starting with a sampler, you can get a taste (although, don’t eat them) of what your favourites are and take it from there. And it looks so great, that I think it makes for a perfect gift for a travelling, eco-conscious friend.

That’s it! All of my favourite Eco-Friendly travel items that are (or were) on my wish list. Is there anything you believe I should add to this list? Let me know!
